United Kingdom: Member of Parliament of the United Kingdom Jason McCartney has recently been appointed to the UK delegation to the NATO Parliamentary Assembly.
He took to his official social media account and noted that he has been very busy as well as it was a constructive weekend at the NATO Assembly in Madrid with my fellow delegates from across the alliance, ranging from Hungarian MPs to US Congress Representatives.
He mentioned in the statement, “We heard from President Zelenskyy of Ukraine, Pedro Sanchez, the President of Spain and Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg as we discussed our united response to Putin’s barbaric war in Ukraine.”
Along with this, he expresses honour to have a conversation about the relationship with China as well as the necessity of taking a tough but pragmatic stance with them, as an essential international partner but a systemic challenge to Euro-Atlantic Security, through their increasing assertiveness against democratic institutions and international law.
They have a discussion over the irregular migration crisis that continues to grip Europe and the necessity of ending its root causes to ensure stability and security across the alliance.
Meanwhile, several people comment on the post, adding, “Congratulations, Jason but don’t forget about the Colne Valley.”
So Jason McCartney replied to the comment, “Of course, the war in Ukraine is deeply relevant to Colne Valley with its impact on our economy and hundreds of refugees being welcomed into our community. The migrant crisis is also impacting our local community. So Colne Valley is always at the forefront of my mind when discussing these challenging issues with international allies.”
On the other hand, he also shared an update that another busy day in Westminster began with a breakfast meeting with the Prime Minister as well as fellow Northern Research Group MPs.
Furthermore, Gigabit broadband, a new A & E at HRI, as well as the TransPennine rail upgrade, are all underway but banging the drum for even more investment.
