Belgium records more deaths due to Covid-19 than any other EU nations: Reports

The country in Western Europe (Belgium) has been affected by the COVID-19 infection as compared to the other nations in Europe in terms of the maximum number of death that has been caused by the virus, as per the latest research by the Ghent University Hospital.

At the time of the previous two years of the pandemic, Belgium had more cases of the individuals that had been infected by the variant of the COVID-19 virus than the other European countries, which resulted in proportionally more deaths.

Moreover, a researcher in Belgian health care at Ghent University Hospital named John Crombez mentioned the statement, “During the coronavirus crisis, we have always looked at the number of infections: increases and decreases in the figures. In our study, we basically looked at the severity of the pandemic.”

Crombez, as well as fellow researcher Rob De Staelen, has analysed the peak periods in which there were many infections and deaths. Suppose the symptoms of the infection are long term and the higher the severity. In Western Europe, Belgium has not to score will as well as neither did Portugal and the United Kingdom.

Along with this, there was the highest number of deaths due to the variant of the COVID-19 infection in Belgium. The experts repeatedly mentioned that the death rate was high because of overreporting, but the researchers have stated that it is only partially true: even when this factor was taken into account, Belgium still stood out.

Furthermore, Crombez asserted, “The health status before the coronavirus crisis partly explains how hard a country is hit in the number of deaths. Countries were divided into four categories on the basis of various health indicators, such as causes of death. Belgium was in the second-worst category.”
