Ukrainian Embassy in Belgium shares glimps of VIII Congress of Women

Belgium: The Embassy of Ukraine in the Kingdom of Belgium shared the information about the event of the year’s VIII Congress of Women in Brussels, held under the symbolic title “Feminist Ukraine – a new geopolitical sisterhood”.

Within the framework of this event, the Ukrainian Government Commissioner for Gender Policy, Kateryna Levchenko, met with Sarah Schlitz, Secretary of State for Gender Equality, Equal Opportunities and Diversity of the Federal Government of Belgium.

Kateryna Levchenko proposed and developed the idea of providing comprehensive support to people, including psychological, social, and legal aspects, as well as providing assistance in cases of sexual violence related to the Russian war in Ukraine.

In addition, she also made plans to develop a procedure for financial support together with the GSF and the Mukwege Foundation.

Together with Sarah Schlitz, they discussed the idea of opening survival support centres in the various countries where the largest number of the Ukrainian victims of the brutal Russian aggression are located and of opening new centres in Belgium to provide support to victims of sexual violence and to transfer their experience and knowledge to professionals from Ukraine.

Kateryna Levchenko expressed her sincere gratitude to Belgium for the support and assistance in such an acute and important issue for women from Ukraine and women from all over the world.

Along with this, the Embassy of Ukraine in the Kingdom of Belgium mentioned in the statement, “Despite everything, our women are the embodiment of our strength, freedom, and independence!”
