Europe approves Pfizer pills to start oral treatment against Covid-19

In Europe, on Thursday, the European Union has confirmed that Pfizer’s COVID-19 pill (vaccine) is going to be the first antiviral treatment for the infection.

As per the studies, the drug named Paxlovid is decreasing the rate of people getting admitted in the hospitals as well as the number of casualties has also been reduced between the individuals who have been infected with COVID.

The Paxlovid is effective for people in severe conditions which has been caused because of the new variant of COVID-19 Omicron.

Pfizer’s COVID-19 pill is a great initiative to stop the spread of the disease as it is increasing at a rapid pace. Also, a person can have the pill in his home instead of in the health care centres.

According to the information provided by the European Medicines Agency (EMA), “The Paxlovid is the initial medicine which is given by mouth as recommended by the European Union for fighting the COVID-19 infection.”

However, there are nations that have already given approval to Pfizer antiviral treatment. The United States, Canada and Israel are some of those countries that have given their consent for the Pfizer pills.

Meanwhile, the EU Health Commissioner, Stella Kyriakides, mentioned in a statement that, “The first oral antiviral-Paxlovid has the capacity to change the condition of the individuals who are already suffering from the severe illness because of the COVID-19.”
