In Belgium, the government officials have announced the launching of the new re-designed international passport, which will be released on 27th January 2022. According to the information provided, the latest international passport contains graphics of Belgian comic book characters.
Moreover, as per the information provided by the Foreign Affairs Minister, Sophie Wilmes, the international passport will become valid from 7th February 2022.
The Foreign Minister mentioned the information about the new international passport in her post on Facebook, “The residents of Belgium will be able to carry the changed new (re-designed) passport which will come into effect on 7th February 2022.”
Further, Wilmes added, “The re-designed international passport will give security, better quality as well as it also draws attention towards the 9th art which is highly preferred in Belgium and there will be no rise in the amount.”
However, during the press conference, at the time when the decision was shared, she mentioned, “The Belgian International passport has been one of the best passports as it has always made all of us proud. On the other hand, we are working on making it effective by improving its security and protection level.”
The use of technology and security measures in the design of the new passport will allow the international passport to be safer than the previous one while simultaneously displaying Belgian culture.
She said further, “The new passport will help to learn about the culture of Belgium, which is underlined as it involves the 9th art of the comic book.”
“I personally thank the authors and the right holders who have helped in completing the assignment as it is also a prominent part of our culture.”
Apart from this, the Foreign Minister said, about the work that has been done on the passport is of the Tintin’s rocket, the smurfs, Lucky Luke, Bob & Bobette and Marsupilami.
