European Commission shared the recent update by European Union(EU) research. It highlighted that EU research is now driving scientific innovation that can play a vital role in improving our health.
The European Research Council provides funding to researchers to create radically new knowledge, allowing Europe to lead the way in scientific innovation.
As per the update shared by the European Commission, The ERC is funding research into biotechnology innovation that treats neurodegenerative diseases such as dementia, which affects over 55 million people across the world.
European Commission also provided a brief piece of example related to funding research into biotechnology innovation. They stated Malin Parmar’s novel route to brain repair received a €2 million grant for patient-specific treatment for Parkinson’s disease using reprogrammed skin cells in 2018.
Additionally, The European Commission has also funded over 12,000 projects and over 10,000 researchers. They further highlighted the twelve researchers who have been awarded and are mentioned below :
- Nobel Prizes
- Six Fields Medals
- Eleven got Wolf Prizes, and many others won important distinctions since 2007.
One of the European social media users, Andrew Bryant, took to the comment section about artificial intelligence. He stated, “Artificial intelligence will keep emerging until they replace all engineers with machines, then they will realize humans are impossible to replace. Politicians do this by making companies compete against each other until death.”
