Brussels is set to welcome another luxury hotel as The Standard prepares to open its doors in May 2025. The highly anticipated addition to the city’s hospitality scene follows the brand’s successful ventures in London and Ibiza, further expanding its global footprint.
The Standard Brussels will be housed in one of the city’s newly renovated World Trade Centre buildings in the Northern Quarter.
A collaboration between The Standard’s in-house team and renowned Belgian firms Jaspers-Eyers Architects and Bernard Dubois Architects, the hotel is expected to bring a fresh and modern twist to the area’s ongoing redevelopment efforts.
A New Landmark in the Northern Quarter
Boasting a striking brutalist design, The Standard Brussels aims to blend post-war modernist architecture with contemporary luxury.
Developers say the 28-floor hotel will celebrate the district’s rich history while offering guests a unique mix of high-end accommodation, gastronomy, and green spaces.
“The design offers a fresh perspective on architecture, hospitality, and nature within an area traditionally dominated by office buildings from the 1960s,” the project’s creators stated.
With 200 rooms and suites, the hotel will cater to both short-term visitors and long-term residents. For the first time, The Standard will offer long-stay suites, allowing guests to book 50-square-meter accommodations on the top floor for durations ranging from one to six months.
Interiors will feature a blend of refined woodwork, circular patterns inspired by 1970s American and Japanese postmodern styles, and 1930s Belgian design. Wall-to-wall carpeting, soft textiles, and warm wood tones will enhance the luxurious yet inviting ambiance.
More Than Just a Hotel
The Standard Brussels aims to be a social hub as well as a place to stay. The lobby is designed as a multifunctional space, ideal for both casual coffee breaks and business meetings.
On the ground floor, a botanical garden will serve as a serene oasis where nature and urban life intersect. Food and beverage options are set to impress visitors and locals alike.
The Double Standard restaurant, located on the ground floor, will offer a fusion of American and Belgian cuisine, complemented by an extensive beer selection.
For those seeking a more elevated dining experience, Lila29 on the 29th floor will provide panoramic 360° views of Brussels alongside a menu of curated cocktails and gourmet dishes.
The Standard’s Global Expansion
The Brussels opening is part of The Standard’s continued international growth. The brand already operates hotels in major destinations, including New York, Miami, London, Ibiza, Bangkok, Hua Hin, and Singapore.
Future openings are planned in Lisbon, Mexico City, Tulum, and Pattaya, further cementing its reputation as a leader in luxury hospitality.
As Brussels’ Northern Quarter undergoes a transformation, The Standard’s arrival is expected to contribute to the area’s revitalization, attracting both business travelers and leisure guests.
With its mix of modern design, culinary excellence, and a commitment to blending luxury with nature, The Standard Brussels is poised to become a new landmark in the city’s evolving skyline.
