From September 27 to October 6, the French-speaking community in Belgium will enjoy an unprecedented opportunity to experience the vibrant local theatre scene at a minimal cost, thanks to the “J’peux pas, j’ai spectacle” initiative.
Launched by the Fédération Wallonie-Bruxelles, RTBF, and key players in the live arts sector, this initiative aims to make theatre accessible to everyone by offering thousands of tickets at the remarkably low price of €2.
This initiative is designed to benefit both theatre-goers and venues. Public access to affordable theatre tickets will not only encourage wider participation in the arts but also provide a much-needed financial boost to participating venues.
The Fédération Wallonie-Bruxelles will compensate each venue with €10 per ticket sold, ensuring that their operational costs are covered despite the reduced ticket price.
The initiative spans over 50 venues across Brussels and Wallonia, including renowned establishments such as Théâtre Royal du Parc, Théâtre de la Toison d’Or, Centre Culturel d’Uccle, Théâtre Océan Nord, and Kings Comédy Club.
Theatre enthusiasts will have the chance to attend a diverse array of performances, ranging from comedy and improvisation to puppetry and circus acts.
The participating venues will host a broad spectrum of shows, with around fifty different performances scheduled throughout the initiative.
Comedy enthusiasts can enjoy acts in Liège and Eghezée, while fans of improvisation can head to Charleroi and Mons. For those interested in puppetry, Genappe will be the place to be, and circus acts will be showcased in Marchin, Molenbeek, Court-Saint-Etienne, and Uccle.
Youth theatre will also be a highlight of the initiative, with performances planned in Liège, Waterloo, Brussels, Fleurus, and Manage.
This focus on youth theatre underscores the initiative’s commitment to engaging younger audiences and fostering a love for the arts from an early age.
Other theatrical performances will take place in a variety of locations, including Bastogne, Jette, Beauvechain, Auvelais, Ath, Dinant, and Tournai.
The extensive reach of the initiative ensures that theatre lovers across the French-speaking regions of Belgium have ample opportunity to participate and enjoy high-quality performances.
The “J’peux pas, j’ai spectacle” initiative is a testament to the commitment of the Fédération Wallonie-Bruxelles, RTBF, and the live arts sector to making culture accessible to all. By offering theatre at such an affordable price, the initiative not only supports the arts but also encourages a broader audience to engage with and appreciate live performances.
For those eager to take advantage of this opportunity, tickets can be purchased for just €2, providing an excellent chance to explore the rich and varied theatre landscape of French-speaking Belgium.
The initiative promises to be a significant cultural event, celebrating the arts and making theatre accessible to a wider audience than ever before.
