According to Wikipedia, the United Nations Climate Change Conference is going to be held as the 27th conference from 6 November until 18 November 2022 in Sharm El Sheikh, City in Egypt.
Josep Borrell Fontanelles highlighted that from ambition to action, the world today is no longer the one we knew. After the pandemic, everyone is now grappling with economic hardship, soaring energy prices, and food insecurity all over the globe, also due to Russia’s brutal war against Ukraine.
He added to the statement that about 1.6 billion people are already experiencing the social and economic fallout from the pandemic, soaring energy and food prices, in addition to the effects of climate change.
Maya from Egypt highlighted it is difficult to ignore the adverse effects of climate change in Egypt. Agriculture, human habitat as well as health will be at risk if adaptations are not made. All the while, the climate crisis gets worse day by day.
Along with this, the greatest challenge facing the world is climate change because it jeopardises the future and the survival of biodiversity. Biodiversity losses, heatwaves, droughts, floods and storms, said Oumou from Guinea.
On the other hand, Josep Borrell Fontanelles had an interactive session with Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan who is the Minister of Foreign Affairs, on further deepening the #UAE-EU relationship as well as bringing it to the strategic level.
