The VDAB, in collaboration with Aviato, the employment center for Brussels Airport, is gearing up to host the annual ‘JOBOP’ fair on Thursday, October 3, in Vilvoorde. The event is expected to draw around 1,500 job seekers eager to explore employment opportunities and training programs across various sectors.
Taking place at the VDAB training center located at Cyriel Buyssestraat 15, the fair will run from 11:00 AM to 4:30 PM. A diverse lineup of approximately 100 employers and training partners will be present, showcasing their job offerings and educational initiatives.
Last year, the JOBOP fair attracted over 1,000 attendees, and this yearโs turnout is anticipated to exceed that number, reflecting the ongoing demand for employment in the region.
The participating municipalities include Zaventem, Wezembeek-Oppem, Kraainem, Kortenberg, Vilvoorde, Machelen, Grimbergen, Kampenhout, Kapelle-op-den-Bos, Steenokkerzeel, and Zemst. Each municipality will contribute to the job offerings available at the fair, ensuring a wide range of options for prospective candidates.
In the past year, the Vilvoorde region has seen a significant demand for labor, with over 10,000 job vacancies reported. As of August 31, there were still 1,949 open positions in the area, highlighting the urgent need for skilled workers.
The most sought-after jobs encompass a variety of roles, with airport-related positions leading the way. Other in-demand occupations include security guards, domestic cleaners, retail salespeople, and educators for nursery, primary, and secondary education.
Aviato, the employment center dedicated to Brussels Airport, will emphasize airport-related job vacancies during the fair. Attendees will have the opportunity to learn about various roles available at the airport, ranging from customer service to operational positions.
In addition to job offerings, training partners will provide insights into skills development and educational programs designed to equip candidates for the workforce.
The JOBOP fair serves as a vital platform for job seekers to connect with potential employers, gain insights into available opportunities, and explore training options that can enhance their employability.
With a focus on meeting the needs of local businesses and residents, the event aims to bridge the gap between job seekers and employers in the Vilvoorde area.
Organizers are optimistic about the fair’s success, noting the increasing number of vacancies and the growing interest in employment opportunities within the region.
The event represents a critical step towards addressing the labor market challenges faced by both job seekers and employers.
As the job market continues to evolve, initiatives like the JOBOP fair play a crucial role in fostering employment and training opportunities.
By bringing together employers, training centers, and prospective candidates, the fair is poised to make a significant impact on the local labor market and support the economic development of the Vilvoorde region.
Prospective attendees are encouraged to prepare for the event by bringing updated resumes and dressing professionally, as networking and face-to-face interactions with employers can be invaluable in securing future job placements.
