Around 3 million refugees fled from Ukraine: UN

The UN has declared that over three million individuals from Ukraine have left their homeland because of Russia’s full-scale military operation against Ukraine, looking for shelters in the bordering nations and beyond those regions.

The UNHCR chief Filippo Grandi mentioned in a Twitter post on March 15, “Today, we have passed another terrible milestone: three million refugees have fled from Ukraine. The war has to stop. Now.”

Moreover, as per the UNHCR, there are 2,969,600 Ukrainians have escaped from the nation. The International Organization for Migration (IOM) mentioned that a maximum of 157,000 third-country nationals had also run within the borders of Ukraine.

Additionally, the UN children’s agency (UNICEF) mentioned that around half of the people that have escaped from Ukraine were students.

The UNHCR has estimated that the maximum number of individuals can go beyond four million in the month of June, but it can be possible, by observing the current situation, this thing could take place before June.

Along with this, the nations to which most of the Ukrainian refugees are looking for a safe place are:-

  • Poland
  • Romania
  • Moldova
  • Hungary
  • Slovakia

However, on March 15, Poland has reported that, till now, there are around 1,900,000 Ukrainians arrived in the nation. The authorities have shared the data that there are an average total of 27 waiting points that have been set up across the country for the individuals escaping Ukraine.

All of the Ukrainian people have been served properly with adequate food, primary medical care as well as accommodation at all of these reception points.

According to the data by the UNHCR, a maximum of 459,485 Ukrainian refugees has escaped into the other EU country, Romania.

Furthermore, the Ministry of Interior of Romania has announced that the responsible authorities have to use the mobile camps to accommodate all people running the war, which is located in the nations of Suceava, Maramureş and Tulcea.
