Srinagar, India: In the recently concluded financial year,Jammu and Kashmir recorded the highest-ever expenses under the Centrally sponsored schemes. The reports state that the sum of Rs 7655 Crore that was received in 2021-22 grew up to Rs 8938 Crore during 2022-23, which indicates a growth of about 15 per cent.
Following the abrogation of Article 370, the Centrally Sponsored Schemes have benefitted each and every citizen of Jammu and Kashmir. As the reports state, for the first time in 70 years, the common man has been the recipient of the benefits of the government schemes in the absence of middlemen and brokers. This has been highly facilitated by the digital transaction set up in the Union Territory.
According to the reports, the efficient mechanism of digital transactions enhanced transparency and established accountability in the system. With this, the money flowing into Jammu and Kashmir does not remain confined to any section of society.
Notably, Jammu and Kashmir have now transformed into front runners from being under-achiever from 1947-2019. The Union Territory received about one-tenth of taxpayers’ money, though the population hardly consists of one per cent of the Indian population. Despite that, the economy has lagged behind many states of the country.
The Indian government has diligently shifted its focus towards the development of Jammu and Kashmir, through the mechanism of Centrally Sponsored Schemes (CSS). The regular appraisal meetings are being held to ensure the achievement of social objectives.
As per statistics provided by officials, 2,63,595 individuals were employed in Jammu and Kashmir under various schemes launched by the J&K administration during the year 2022-23. It is noteworthy that since the past three years, the overall performance of Jammu and Kashmir under different phrases development and progress has certainly improved with the abrogation of Article 370.
