Brussels – A decade after their last performance together, the original members of the beloved Flemish girl group K3 – Kathleen Aerts, Kristel Verbeke, and Karen Damen – have announced a highly anticipated comeback, sparking a ticket-buying frenzy across Belgium and the Netherlands.
Ticket sales for the reunion concerts opened on Monday at 10:00 a.m., and within just four hours, an astonishing 200,000 tickets were sold, shattering expectations and setting new records for demand. Initially, five shows were planned in Belgium, but due to overwhelming interest, that number has now been expanded to at least 14.
Sportpaleis Breaks Records
The majority of the Belgian concerts will take place at the Sportpaleis in Antwerp, one of the country’s largest venues.
The arena, which has hosted many of K3’s past performances, confirmed that ticket sales had exceeded all previous expectations. With shows selling out in record time, organizers are now exploring the possibility of adding even more dates.
“This is truly unprecedented,” a spokesperson for Sportpaleis said. “We anticipated a strong response, but the speed at which tickets disappeared is beyond anything we’ve seen before. The demand continues to grow, and we are assessing whether additional performances can be scheduled.”
The enthusiasm is not limited to Belgium. The Netherlands is also witnessing an extraordinary level of interest, prompting organizers to increase the number of concerts from the initially planned four to a total of ten.
A Nostalgic Comeback
K3, formed in 1998, became a household name in Flanders and the Netherlands with their infectious pop melodies and vibrant performances aimed at children and families.
Over the years, the group has undergone multiple lineup changes, but the original trio remains a fan-favorite, with their music continuing to resonate with audiences of all ages.
After parting ways in 2009, Aerts, Verbeke, and Damen followed different career paths, with some focusing on solo projects, television, and other entertainment ventures. However, the bond with their fans remained strong, paving the way for this long-awaited reunion.
“Our fans have been asking for this for years, and we finally decided that now is the perfect time,” said Kristel Verbeke in a statement. “We can’t wait to get back on stage together and celebrate with everyone who has supported us for so long.”
Karen Damen echoed the sentiment, adding, “It’s incredible to see so many people still love our music. We never expected this kind of reaction, and we’re absolutely overwhelmed.”
More Shows to Come?
With ticket sales continuing at a rapid pace, speculation is mounting about the possibility of even more concert dates being added. Organizers have yet to confirm whether further shows will be scheduled, but industry insiders suggest that additional performances are highly likely, given the extraordinary demand.
For now, fans who were lucky enough to secure tickets are eagerly awaiting the chance to relive the magic of K3’s original lineup, while those who missed out are hoping for another opportunity to see the iconic trio back in action.
The reunion concerts are set to be a major musical event, reaffirming K3’s status as one of the most cherished acts in Flemish pop history.
