Roseau, Dominica: Sports Division of Dominica is set to host a Cross Country championship. The division also held an early morning walk through Fort Shirley to ensure that all systems were in place for the event.
The Sports Division presently operates within the Ministry of Sports, Culture and Community Development.
They took to their official social media account and mentioned in the statement, “Early Morning Walk Through Fort Shirley. Ensuring All Systems Are In Place For Cross Country Championship.”
This morning our staff, Reginald Thomas and Ellington Sabin, walked the route for the Cross Country Championship to assess the clearing operations which took place as they ensure the safety of our student-athletes. The all-terrain route provides runners with varying experiences.
The Secondary Schools Cross Country Championship will take place from 9:30 am on Friday at the Cabrits National Park.
Along with this, on December 3, Sports Division, Dominica shared a glimpse of the view from Fort Shirley in the Cabrits National Park, the venue for the first-ever Secondary Schools Cross Country Championship.
The championship was expected to take place on November 18. However, weather conditions and logistical issues forced a postponement.
The championship will now take place on December 16. They said, “Come support the students, also, you can view the event Live.”
The Sports Division continues with Secondary Schools Cross Country Championship 2022 planning for the staging of the inaugural Secondary Schools Cross Country Championship which is carded for December 16, 2022. The event, which is expected to take place at the Cabrits National Park, will cater for male and female athletes in two age categories, those under 15 and under 20.
On Thursday, members of the staff sub-committee for track and field made a site visit and site meeting at the Cabrits. Final measurements were done, and the identification of areas for intervention and other logistics were looked at.
The members of the sub-committee were joined by the Sports Officer North, Ellington Sabin and the Sports Coordinator, Trevor Shillingford.
