Bright Black Fashion is a new worldwide digital platform where fashion industry professionals may showcase their abilities via a series of online competitions. Any applicant who is chosen as a finalist on the platform will be eligible to compete in the Bright Black fashion show’s grand finale.

In June 2022, Dubai will host the finale of Bright Black Fashion, with one winner in each category. Fashion designers, makeup artists, models, and fashion photographers are among the categories.

Two Latino women started the fashion contest, Andrea Laguna from Colombia and Alicia Becerra from Argentina. Both of them have been living in Dubai for the past eight years as well as have united with each other to work to build a bridge between complementary markets as well as expand a search for opportunities and support emerging talent from the entire globe.

Moreover, Andrea Laguna is a Colombian singer who reached Dubai eight years ago and has started working on emerging new talents in different venues with musicians from all over the world. Later on, she became a freelance artist in the United Arab Emirates. She further had thought about helping individuals searching for new beginnings or searching to get new experiences entering a competitive international marketplace where constant improvement is the only way to succeed.

While outlining her objective, Andrea said, “We want to give opportunities to talented people who haven’t got the chance to show everything they can do in their industry.”

Along with this, Alicia Becerra is from San Luis, Argentina. She is a businesswoman who has been working for a fashion designer in Dubai for the previous four years as well as has always extended her efforts to support the individuals to overcome professional difficulties to improve their lives.

While underlining the aspects of the fashion show, she mentioned in the statement, “Bright Black Fashion is an amazing start to the participant’s careers. There is so much talent and diversity all over the world, and many people work hard but didn’t get to the right place at the right time; all we want is to offer them that special opportunity.”

Andrea further added, “I haven’t lived in many countries, but even if I have only experienced a few, that kind of exposure changes you; I see it not only on myself but almost everyone who goes through it… it opens your mind and network to become a better version of yourself and continue pursuing your dreams… at the very least, living in different countries gives a fresh perspective in life. So with Alicia (my partner), we put together connections in fashion and experience in entertainment to open as many doors as possible for others too.”

Andrew also emphasized the criteria for participating in the fashion show. Participants can register through the website or through the link on our Instagram @brightblackfashion. After that, candidates have to select the category in which they to join.

Furthermore, they will receive all of the requirements via email for the category they have selected as well as start the challenges for the selection team to start the process, says Andrea, while explaining the criteria.

To help and bring attention to the Bright Black Fashion Platform, they will also conduct the tour in Latin American countries such as Argentina, Colombia, Brazil, Mexico, and others. The tour will support them in creating awareness among the local and international designers, and its first season will be held in San Luis, Argentina, on the 7th of May 2022 in the convention center La Punta.

Michael Cinco is one of the biggest names in the fashion industry, a Filipino couture designer based in Dubai for over twenty years as well as that has dressed celebrities like Beyoncé, Jennifer López, Sofía Vergara, Lady Gaga and Rihanna, and they will be the headline designer of the show in San Luis alongside designers from the middle east like Salma Khan as well as brands like The Victor Closet as well as emerging designers from Latin America.

Alicia stated on tour, “We have to get the word out that there is a new opportunity for those who are serious in getting an opportunity to shine and show their work.”

On the other hand, while highlighting the several challenges, Andrea expressed, “The biggest challenges came with the situation of the world in the last couple of years being so closed because of the pandemic and the uncertainty that brought… but it is now transforming into a strength when people are eager to reactive their lives, and Bright Black Fashion comes in the perfect time to offer exactly that, a new beginning.”

Further, she underlines that it is vital to put all of the concentration on the talent, and by showing the Bright Black Fashion in the international arena, having contestants from all over the globe as well as in different categories, it creates synergies in the industry that go beyond the contest itself.

Andrea said, “Also, for the time being, the independent start of this platform has given us the freedom to adapt and evolve organically with the industry and our audience, without the pressure of a tight script, which tends to happen when presented on TV or screening platforms.”

Andrew also outlined the parameters under which businesses and sponsors might contribute to the platform. She made a point, “Given the media collaborators we have right now (in Latin America and internationally), we can offer our sponsors and engaged growing audience, and it is the way we will continue to support more and more talents around the world for this first season and the ones to come. They can write us the email”

She stated that the world had changed dramatically in the last decade, with the rise of social media as a part of our daily lives, and even more so in the previous few years, as people seek inspiration and want to see more relatable and approachable fashion, and that diversity is a big thing, allowing a more comprehensive range of talents to shine.

Andrew invited the fresh talent to join the Fashion show and announced that a second platform for music and entertainment industry talent is in the works. They’ll reveal it in June 2022, following the grand finale of Bright Black Fashion in Dubai.
