London, England: Piers Morgan, English broadcaster, journalist, writer, and television personality, slammed Manchester United’s manager Erik Ten Hag after losing to Tottenham Hotspurs in second Premier League match of season 2023/24.
On August 19, 2023, Manchester United lost 2-0 at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. Piers Morgan, who interviewed Ronaldo on November 19, 2022, which resulted in a controversial exit of Portuguese star, has now questioned Erik Ten Hag for his approach to Ronaldo.

According to him and several of Ronaldo’s fans, benching Ronaldo is the leading cause of his exit from Old Trafford, and Ten Hag forced him to do so, leaving no option for the Portuguese.
On his official Twitter account, Piers wrote, “Last time Spurs scored twice against United, a United player scored a brilliant hattrick to beat them on his own. But he was deemed ‘the problem’ and left Erik Ten Hag with nobody else to blame”.
He highlighted that despite scoring goals in important games and scoring six Champions League goals in seven matches, Ten Hag makes United fans believe that Ronaldo is the problem who is not fitting in the team and creating problems for the squad.
Piers Morgan shared the clip of Manchester United’s match with Tottenham Hotspurs in season 2021/22, in which Ronaldo scored a match-winning goal in the 81st minute of the game, sealing an away victory for his team.
Two days ago, the Red Devils lost by 0-2 with an own goal has left Erik Ten Hag in trouble due to the team’s poor performance and ineffective tactics.
He believes that the result would be different if Ronaldo had been in United. On March 12, 2023, Ronaldo scored an astonishing hat trick against Spurs at Old Trafford stadium in a Premier League match at the age of 37.
Since Ronaldo left United on November 22, 2022, on a mutual agreement, Erik Ten Hag was accused by Ronaldo fans of forcing him to leave the club and also faced criticism for his statement about benching Ronaldo.
With the defeat, Manchester United lost the opportunity to achieve the accomplishment of beginning the season with a home and away victory after six years.
United managed to do this in season 2017/18 under the Portugeuse manager Jose Mourinho.
