The Irish actor, William John Neeson, recently revealed that his wife, Natasha Richardson, urged him not to work for the James Bond series. The actor noted that he could have been James Bond, but his dear wife didn’t respond to this.
On Thursday, John Neeson appeared for an interview with James Corden, in the show ‘The Late late Show.’ The actor mentioned, “I know they were looking at various actors and I apparently was among them. However, my dear, the departed wife did say to me…’Darling, if you’re offered James Bond and you’re going to play it, you’re not going to marry me.'”
In 1993, the couple first met, while they were working for Broadway’s Anna ‘Christie’. Further, both, Natasha and John were nominated for the Best Actor and Best Actress Tony Awards for their work.
Thus, in 1994, the pair married and had two kids together named Micheál, 26, and Daniel, 24. In 1980, the actress, Natasha died in a tragic skiing accident. John clarified, “I think the pain was a little too overwhelming. I think the mind is very powerful, and subconsciously, or unconsciously, it can protect you. That’s what it did when she passed. I just pushed it aside and didn’t want to deal with it.”
Further, he said, “I don’t, even still, think that I’ve fully comprehended it, and that seems to be a similar journey to a lot of people I’ve spoken to. Fifty-year-olds who lost their parents when they were 12, 13…One day they’re out gardening, and something comes over them and they just break down.”
The actor said, “That’s more or less what she was like,” comparing Natasha to her Parent Trap role. He then added and noted, “She was this sweet, amazing mother figure—my best friend. She had these amazing, big welcomes when we’d come home or she would come home. I’m so lucky because I have her captured on film.”
