New Delhi, India: On Wednesday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi asserted that India had a longstanding tradition of democracy, with the idea of elected leaders being a prevalent feature in ancient India even before other parts of the world.

Pakistan: Federal Govt faces criticism over free wheat distribution in Punjab

Pakistan: The federal government has faced criticism for how it distributed free wheat flour in Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. In response, they have asked the Gilgit-Baltistan administration to reduce the cost of subsidized wheat for citizens in a targeted way and charge wealthy people market rates to ensure a sustainable supply. The GB government has agreed to raise flour prices, which are currently much lower in the region than in the rest of the country.

India: PM Narendra Modi thanks Japanese counterpart for G7 Summit invitation

India, Delhi: During their bilateral meeting on Monday at Hyderabad House, Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Fumio Kishida for inviting him to attend the G7 Summit in Japan later this year. The Indian PM also mentioned the invitation during a joint press statement, where he acknowledged the Japanese leader's invitation to the G7 Leaders' Summit in Hiroshima in May.
