MEP Brando Benifei commemorated Andrea Camilleri, one of the most loved and respected Italian writers who left them four years ago.
Through his update, MEP Benifei mentioned that Camilleri was a true intellectual writer, playwright, director and screenwriter. He was always inclined to put his intelligence at the service of others.
MEP Benifei added that he always glimpsed his contribution and critical spirit to the public debate of our country.
According to the sources, Italian Writer Andrea Camilleri’s most famous work is The Montalbano series, which exhibits many Pirandellian elements. Camilleri had also worked on several TV productions, such as Le inchieste del commissario Maigret with Gino Cervi.
The popularity of Montalbano surprised and delighted Camilleri. After seeing his success in writing, Camilleri began writing about his detective late in life, close to 60 and produced 28 mysteries and two collections of short stories.
Furthermore, MEP Benifei also emphasized that Italian writer Andrea Camilleri was a great and even greater intellectual and Italy and Italians will never forget him.
One of the Italy social media users, Loredana Abati, took to the comment section and added, “I loved this man and not only for his novels but especially because when he was interviewed, he always said what he thought, unaware of the retaliation of certain politicians.”
While another social media user, Alfonso Di Pasqua, expressed,
“I have read all his novels about Montalbano, plus the other stories of Vigata. Thank you, Maestro Camilleri!”
On the other hand, the third social media user, Giovanni Perrino, extended, “Last year I was in Rome and went to say goodbye to him at the Catholic cemetery where he rests a few meters from Antonio Gramsci’s burial. This year I skipped the recurrence but I promise you that I will come back to visit it in Rome”.
