MEP Sylwia Spurek informed the general people of Poland to ‘Be aware of Methane’. She also mentioned that she has handed over to the European Commission an interpellation on methane emissions from agriculture.
Agriculture has become the largest source of anthropogenic methane emissions, responsible for around one-quarter of emissions, followed by the energy sector, which includes emissions from oil, natural gas, coal and biofuels.
Through her update, MEP Spurek stated, Methane emissions from agriculture are mainly from the agricultural sector, accounting for about 50% of all anthropogenic emissions of this greenhouse gas.
According to the information, The Commission has prepared a comprehensive regulation limiting methane emissions – from the energy sector.
MEP Spurek took to her official Facebook account to share brief information about Fossil fuels. She stated that according to the Commission, Fossil fuels account for only 25% of all emissions.
She further asked the general people of Poland and the government authorities, “Why isn’t a similar regulation on emissions from the livestock sector? Why do politicians from left to right ignore the issue of the consequences of the poultry sector’s actions despite the available scientific knowledge?”
Meanwhile, through her update she highlighted the actions of the Commission on methane emissions by the farming sector together with other MPs to the European Parliament.
Notably, MEP Spurek, in an interpellation, asks if KE intends to introduce necessary solutions proposed by non-governmental organizations, experts and experts such as in the Plant Treaty Plant Based Treaty.
According to the sources, The Plant Treaty is the most complex solution designed to protect the planet, the environment and people by phasing out the agricultural sector.
MEP Spurek voluntarily shared with the general people of Poland and said that she would inform the general people of Poland about the response of the Commission immediately.
