New Delhi, INDIA: The Canadian High Commissioner in India, Cameron MacKay, denounced the events during which the assassination of former Indian Prime Minister Indira Gandhi was celebrated in Canada. MacKay stated that he was totally appalled by reports of the event that celebrated Indira Gandhi’s killing incident.
He also reiterated that Canada does not have any place for hatred of any kind or glorifying violence in any way, as he condemned the recent series of such events.
Notably, the videos of tableau in Canada portraying the visuals of blood-drenched Indira Gandhi’s statue under assassination have been making rounds all over the social media platforms, inviting outrage from the Indian public.
The Indian citizens also expressed their rage on social media, condemning the Canadian administration that exercised no control over such activities.
Remarkably, Indira Gandhi was the first and the only woman Prime Minister of India who led the nation from January 1966 to March 1977 and from January 1980 to October 1984,
before being assassinated by two of her bodyguards on October 31, 1984, at her residence.
Earlier in March, the Indian Ministry of External Affairs had summoned the High Commissioner of Canada following a security breach by the protesting elements at Indian Embassy in Canada’s Ottawa. The Indian officials sought an explanation of the events that took place in the presence of police at India’s diplomatic mission and Consulates.
Meanwhile, the officials of the Indian external affairs ministry have urged the Canadian Government to take strong steps against the anti-Indian elements that promote separatist agendas.
