MEP Anna Cinzia Bonfrisco extended her wishes for World Chocolate Day to the general people of Italy for the invention of one of the most beloved sweets, “chocolate”, in late July 7th, 1847.
MEP Anna Bonfrisco took to her official Facebook account and added, “In 1847, the first chocolate bar was invented! For this reason, every July 7th, we celebrate World Chocolate Day dedicated to one of the most beloved sweets.”
MEP Bonfrisco shared brief information regarding the chain of chocolate. She stated that chocolate is also a food chain worth almost 6 billion euros in Italy, interwoven with excellence and art recognized worldwide.
As per the sources, Italy’s chocolate industry has a rich history that dates back to the 16th century, with some of the oldest chocolate makers still operating today.
From the finest ingredients to the delicately crafted packaging, Italian chocolate is known for its attention to detail and quality, and from classic milk chocolate to rich and decadent dark chocolate, there’s something for every chocolate lover in Italy.
Furthermore, She said that “We’re thinking of Modica’s chocolate, incomparable for its processing method, taste and a very ancient history.”
MEP Anna Cinzia Bonfrisco extended thanks to the Consortium that brings together artisan companies producing Modica Chocolate, which is important in fostering a strong connection between the local community, commerce, and heritage.
Modica Chocolate is a great example of Italian craftsmanship exported worldwide through its products. The European Union has recognized and awarded these exceptional qualities, which have made it the first chocolate to be protected by the IGP label in Europe.
Additionally, The IGP label is a mark of authenticity and quality, and it is only awarded to products that meet strict criteria and is a significant achievement for the chocolate industry and a testament to the quality of the product and includes using specific ingredients and production methods and sticking to certain standards of quality and consistency.
