Melilla, Spain: An illegal migrant recently made a bold attempt to enter the Spanish enclave Melilla by using a paraglider.
A widely circulated video on social media showed the migrant departing from Mount Gurugu in the Moroccan northern city of Nador and quickly fleeing upon landing in Melilla.
The incident reflects a growing trend among migrants utilizing paragliding as an alternative to getting through the heavily guarded borders of Melilla.

Spanish authorities are searching for a person who paraglided across the border fence in what appears to be a creative new way of migrating illegally into European territory. Two citizens reported the presence of the paraglider on Thursday afternoon.
The First known case of illegally entering a European country with a paraglider was caught on camera on December 3, which stunned Spaniards. He saw a man fly over the border from a North African enclave.
In December 2022, the migrant made history paragliding in Spain’s North African enclave of Melilla. The unidentified migrant fled when officers arrived and was not found. The paraglider is believed to have used equipment which costs just ยฃ5.50 online.
Paragliding is the new creative formula with which this migrant crossed the border between Morocco and the Spanish enclave of Melilla. The authorities are looking for the person who crossed into European territory in this way and without authorization.
The first case of entering the Spanish territory was recorded in December 2022. After ten months, another daring attempt was made in the same way to enter Spanish territory without hassling the tough fences.
