French Embassy in the U.S., through their official Facebook page, shared an update regarding the upcoming French National Day (aka Bastille Day), scheduled to be held on the 14th of July, 2023.
As per the sources, French National Day aka Bastille Day, is celebrated with a mixture of solemn military parades and carefree dance performances and different and unique fireworks.
French Embassy in the U.S. took to their social media account and stated that they are less than ten days away from the French National Day (aka Bastille Day), which will be celebrated on the 14th of July.
They updated, “Ahead of this important celebration, we’ll be sharing some key moments from history and some fun facts about the Fête Nationale.”
Furthermore, French Embassy in the U.S. showed their enthusiasm towards the French National Day and boosted the general people to participate in the French National Day voluntarily.
Additionally, they extended, “Let’s start off with the history behind the holiday–the date commemorated the Storming of the Bastille in 1789 when revolutionaries took control of the fortress that served as a symbol of monarchical power.”
The French Embassy in the U.S. also discussed and gave fine details regarding the history told to the general people and added, “If you’ve taken a French history class, you probably remember that this building served as a political prison, but this is not entirely true.”
Meanwhile, they discussed that the building was used more for holding arms and ammunition rather than any dissidents at that time. They extended the past details of the building along with the picture and added that the main goal of the revolutionaries to take the Bastille was to obtain the weapons, not to liberate the seven prisoners inside.
French Embassy in the U.S. concluded their update and informed the general people to stay tuned for more fun facts and voluntarily share any favourite piece of Bastille Day trivia.
