Eazy-E left the world at an early age of 30. He was a legendary rapper and songwriter, who is behind the West Coast rap and gangsta rap. Who was Eazy-E?
As mentioned above, Eazy-E was the man who has been called the “godfather of gangsta rap”. Having said that, besides rapping and songwriting, Eazy-E was also active as an entrepreneur and had a record label. Eazy-E, or Eric Lynn Wright was born on 7 September, 1964 in Compton, California.
Moreover, Eazy-E has a son named Eric, and a daughter named Erin. Later, he got married to Tomica Woods whom he met at a club. They tied the knot in 1984, fifteen days before Eazy-E’s death. He also has a son with Woods named Dominick and a daughter Dalijah. In early 1995, the rapper was hospitalized with a violent cough. Turned out, he was diagnosed with HIV/AIDS and he made amends and wrote a final message for his fans. On March 26, 1995, Eazy-E died from AIDS-induced pneumonia.
Eazy-E’s Musical Career
In his younger years, Easy-E used to make money by dealing drugs. However, he left that job when his cousin was shot and killed. Subsequently, he decided to make a career in hip-hop and started recording in the 1980s. As he carried his recordings on his own in the garage, it ultimately led to Ruthless Records.
Later, he became a part of the most famous hip hop group N.W.A. After that, Eazy-E released his debut album “Eazy-Duz-It” in 1988. Certainly, the album was labelled as gangsta rap, West Coast hip hop and as the “golden age hip hop”. Moreover, “Eazy-Duz-It” was named to have “paved the way” for N.W.A’s fiery album “Straight Outta Compton”. Meanwhile, as a part of N.W.A, Eazy-E released “100 Miles and Runnin'”, “Niggaz4Life”.
However, when N.W.A started to fall apart, every eye turned to Eazy-E. Moreover, it led to a feud between the rapper and Dr. Dre. Apparently, Dr.Dre alleged Eazy-E to have teamed up with manager Jerry Heller to break the band. After the controversial incidents between the band members, N.W.A finally broke and Dr. Dre dissed Eazy-E on his album “The Chronic”. Consequently, E-Eazy responded back with his EP “It’s On”.
