Thimphu [Bhutan]: According to the reports, the inauguration of a recreational park called Gyalsey Dumra has brought new life to Zhemgang town in Bhutan’s Trong Gewog.

The Gyalsey Dumra recreational park is going to be located in the centre of the town and will carry flowers, plants and other basic amenities, and it will spread over an acre of land.

The park in the Zhemgang district has been recently renovated and now features a concrete footpath, canopies, resting benches, and a restroom. According to district officials, the park was built to tribute Bhutan’s Prince Gyalsey Jigme Namgyel Wangchuck. Since the beautification works started in 2020, the park has become a popular recreational spot for the locals of Zhemgang, as reported.

Since its opening on June 2, the recreational park in Zhemgang town has seen a significant increase in visitors. According to a report, it has become a popular topic of discussion among locals.

Locals also praised it and said it improved the aesthetics of the town, and it also has a green space to sit.

According to Lhendup, a local resident, Gyalsey Dumra is open to everyone, including those who are feeling unhappy. The park is a great place for families to have picnics and enjoy leisurely activities. The beautiful flowers and comfortable seating make it an ideal spot to relax with tea and snacks. Pema Yuden, another resident, mentioned that Gyalsey Dumra boasts a variety of flowers that make it an excellent destination for young people to visit during their free time. Additionally, students researching flowers can come here to work on their assignments and projects.

As reported, streetlights have also been installed in the park so that it will be easy for people to visit in the evening hours. According to residents, the park is a safe place to hang out due to the installation of street lights.
