The European Parliament passed a nature restoration regulation, the Nature Restoration Law, and the project passed with the decision of 336 MEPs for and 300 against the project, including Law and Justice, Polish People’s Party and Civic Platform.ย
MEP Sylwia Spurek through her update, stated that the law passed despite the pressure coming from big corporations and organizations profiting from the devastation of the environment, ecosystems, biodiversity and animal killing.ย
The Nature Restoration Law project was forwarded to the Committee for Environmental Protection, Public Health and Food Safety in the EU, which will negotiate the final resolution of the legislative document with other EU institutions.
As per the sources provided by MEP Spurek through her update, The project aims to restore the climate, the planet, and the ecosystems for people, and it is the first European-wide and comprehensive law addressing this important issue.ย
The Nature Restoration Law project is also a key element of the EU strategy for biodiversity restoration, which sets binding goals for rebuilding degraded ecosystems.
Furthermore, MEP Sylwia Spurek highlighted and shared brief information regarding the nature of Europe. She remarked that the nature of Europe is in alarming condition, and many scientists and experts said that 81% of settlements are in bad condition.ย
Additionally, MEP Spurek voluntarily shared her ideas for the chance in the condition of the nature of Europe to the general people of Poland and the people across the European country.ย
She highlighted that the reconstruction of wetlands, rivers, forests, green areas, marine ecosystems and the same animal species that populate them would be the beginning of the change in the nature of Europe, which will result in :
- Improving biodiversity
- Limiting global warming to 1.5 ยฐC
- Building Europe’s Resilience and strategic autonomy
- Preventing natural disasters and limiting threats to food security.
