Kyiv: The first meeting of the leadership and heads of the committees of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine and the European Parliament took place in the format of a video conference on April 12,2023.
The meeting aimed to present the committees of the Verkhovna Rada, to meet the leaders of the European Parliament committees of relevant directions, to discuss the support of the Ukrainian people and the actions of the Parliament of Ukraine on the way of integration to the European Union, to discuss the issues of rebuilding Ukraine.
The opening speech was made by Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Ruslan Stefančuk and President of the European Parliament Roberta Metsola, who noted that the event marks the beginning of in-depth, comprehensive and specific industry cooperation between the two institutions.
Roberta Metsola also expressed her admiration for Ukraine’s active progress on behalf of the European Commission’s recommendations on applying for EU accession.
Meanwhile, in a brief speech, First Deputy Chief of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine , Oleksandr Korniyenko also presented the directions of ork of the EcoCommittee on the subject of knowledge, achievements of the Committee in bringing Ukrainian legislation into compliance with EU environmental legislation and plans of work for the coming period.
Noting that to achieve the goals set in this area to date, there is a need for continued cooperation of the Committee with the relevant bodies of the European Parliament and expert support of European integration initiatives.
The Ukrainian officials thanked the members of the European Parliament for their continued support and deep understanding of the problem of Ukrainian environmental destruction during the war and the need for recovery of our economy who exclusively by the principles of the European green course.
