Two people were injured in a serious traffic accident on Vilvoordselaan in Brussels early Friday morning, following a collision between a tractor-trailer and a passenger car.

According to Walter Derieuw, spokesperson for the Brussels Fire Brigade, the accident occurred at approximately 06:55 when the Brussels-Capital/Ixelles police zone, the fire brigade, and medical emergency teams were alerted to a road incident involving a large agricultural vehicle and a car.
“It involved a collision between a tractor with a trailer and a car,” Derieuw said. The impact was severe enough to overturn the car, which landed on its roof near the side of the road. The exact circumstances leading to the crash are still under investigation.

The passenger of the overturned car was able to escape the wreckage on his own before emergency personnel arrived. However, the driver was trapped inside the vehicle and required assistance to be freed.
“The door was removed to free him from his precarious position,” Derieuw explained. Firefighters used specialized extraction equipment to carefully open the vehicle and safely remove the injured driver.
Both individuals were subsequently transported to hospital. The driver was taken in a standard ambulance, while the passenger was accompanied by a mobile emergency team, indicating that although alert and conscious, his condition initially raised concern.
