Philippines is all set to celebrate 28th Kalinga Founding Anniversary

Philippines: In preparation of the most awaited event in the 28th Kalinga Founding Anniversary and 4th Bodong Festival, the Awong Chi Gangsa, Agtu’n Chi Banga, the committee’s Chairperson Bishop Prudencio P. Andaya, Jr. together with the core group members started visiting municipalities to orient local chief executives and the communities.

The team first visited the municipalities of Lubuagan and Tinglayan on Monday January 9 and was able to introduce and orient about the Awong before the LGUs’ officials and department heads, and secured their commitment and participation.

For Tinglayan, they already started making their own bangas and listing the names of those who have ready-to-borrow gongs. They also made a courtesy call to the municipalities of Pasil and Balbalan yesterday, January 11 and their visit yielded the same positive response.

Also, the Bishop had been continuously coording with Committee on Ground Preparation for the improvement of the Banga at the Kalinga Sports Complex which will serve as a stage during the activity.

Today, January 12, the team is currently paying visit to the municipalities of Rizal and Pinukpuk. Their visitation will culminate tomorrow with only the municipality of Tanudan and the rest of tabuk City left on their list.

The spectacle, “A Call a Thousand Gongs and The Dance of a Thousand Pots”, aims to spot two titles in the Guinness Word Book of Record for having the largest gong players and banga dancers.
