Jammu and Kashmir: The state election commission of Jammu and Kashmir has decided to enrol Kashmiri migrant pandits who are currently living in various parts of India as voters. The government has established teams to carry out this process, which includes those who had to leave the Kashmir valley due to unfavourable circumstances and are officially recognized as migrants living in Jammu and other parts of the nation.
The Department of Relief and Rehabilitation Organization teams have been sent to the valley and visited Mumbai, Pune and Chandigarh. Apart from these cities, the team will also visit Ahmedabad, Gujrat, Banglore, Karnataka, etc., to register the Kashmiri migrants residing there as voters.
As per the officials, the government of India want Kashmiri migrants pandit to come and participate in the assembly and parliamentary elections in Jammu and Kashmir. The government started this campaign on April 5, and this campaign will end on April 20. Relief and rehabilitation organization teams will visit NCR Delhi.
This process is already going on in the Jammu region, and the relief organization is doing survey door to door, especially in the area where Kashmiri migrants are returning to ensure they are registered as voters.
Deputy Commissioner KK Sidha is personally heading a team, and his team will visit Pune and Mumbai and also in Banglore and Maharashtra. Moreover, Kashmiri pandits are also happy with the government’s decision and also support the government and said that the government of India finally supported us after 30 years.
The government had taken a serious step to involve the displaced Kashmiri Pandits in the democratic process actively. Sources stated that apart from the 22 teams, two more notable teams have been established, which include 16 officers, 56 officials and 50 casual labourers under the leadership of the relief and rehabilitation Commissioner.
