Ireland: Diane Forsythe, Member of the Legislative Assembly of Northern Ireland (MLA), shared an update on Downpatrick Living High Streets Initiative. She mentioned this pilot initiative could be transformative for Downpatrick, with successful delivery being then rolled out on High Streets in towns across the District.
Diane Forsythe shared the information through her official social media account and mentioned in the statement, “Downpatrick Living High Streets Initiative. Fantastic engagement this evening at the Downpatrick Living High Streets Initiative I’m Down Arts Centre. This pilot initiative could be transformative for Downpatrick with successful delivery being then rolled out on High Streets in towns across the District.”
Led by the Downpatrick Regeneration Working Group, a collaboration between Newry, Mourne as well as Down District Council and the Department for the Communities is most welcome in the area. She stated, “I want to see every town in South Down reach its potential, and schemes like these are instrumental in driving the vision and community buy-in. I look forward to looking at the outcome of this project.”
On the other hand, she shared another update on the tourism branding workshop. This afternoon she was pleased to attend a Tourism Branding Workshop for the Newry, Mourne and Down District Council area alongside Cllr Jonny Jackson in Down Arts Centre.
Destination branding, as well as marketing, was the theme as well as it was clear from all in attendance that they have many highly valued tourist attractions across the District as well as they want to see them all promoted as well as thriving.
Diane Forsythe further outlined in the statement, “I love this area. I think it has the most beautiful scenery in Northern Ireland, with exciting historical links and culture. I will do all in my power to boost tourism right across South Down.”
