Ireland: Free-lance photographer, Aisling Hyland Photography, located in South Kildare, shared update on Gaelic football team, Castlemitchell GFC was bursting with pride when they visited Churchtown National School, many of which were past pupils, with the trophies they won during the year.
The Under 15s,& minor girls, along with under 16s boys, all won in 2022. If you were to include Castlemitchells Abi Whelan, who won both Leinster and the All Ireland with Kildare Under 16s, Erin Brereton Foley and Amy Larn (Captain) of Kildare Minors who won the Leinster Minor Championship with Kildare, that’s a total of 6 trophies in Castlemitchell.
Also, in 2022 Ross & James Harris played Minor for Kildare, with James being selected as Captain. Some of the girls are dual players and played camogie for Athy and Kildare -Shauna Dunne was Captain of Kildare Camogie Minors and played alongside Castlemitchell club mate Saoirse Coffey.
Amy Larn has also been fairly busy playing rugby with Athy RFC, Leinster and most recently, Irelands Women’s 7s team.
Along with this, Aisling Hyland Photography highlighted in the statement, “Well done to all in Castlemitchell GFC, a fantastic club in South Kildare who promote and support all their players!! Churchtown National School really made the players and mentor feel welcome and had a range of important question to ask the players!!”4
On the other hand, recently, they had a fun-loving Christmas celebration with the Shackleton Statue. They asked people which one they would like to see on a Christmas Card next year. “Hit like on your favourite Picture.”
They thanked Susan Laverty and Mary Feely for joining in the madness.
They also highlighted in the post, “Shackleton Museum Shackleton Museum Ernest Shackleton Athy Heritage Centre & Museum Athy Heritage Centre and Museum Athy Heritage Centre Shackleton Museum.”
