The Embassy of Belgium in the United States of America featured Ambassador Régibeau’s four-legged companion “Glaarni”, a photogenic Bernese Mountain Dog. The feature was made on the occasion of International Dog Day, commemorated worldwide annually on August 26.
While sharing glimpses of Glaarni, the Belgian Embassy said, “On National Dog Day, we feature, once more, Ambassador Régibeau’s four-legged companion “Glaarni”, a photogenic Bernese Mountain Dog. Whether invited or not, the mascot of the Belgian Residence always wants to be in the photo.”
The Embassy took to Facebook to share glimpses of the dog and said, “Our furry friend is known as the clingiest Diplomatic Dog in Washington DC. Whether he is invited or not, our mascot will always find his way to social events and proudly sit on the first row when official photos are taken. Glaarni is a Bernese Mountain Dog, a breed from the Swiss Alps.”
It is to be noted that the Embassy of Belgium in the United States of America regularly invites Ambassador Régibeau’s companion, Glaarni, due to which the dog has gained enough fame around the USA. He is mostly in the Embassy with the Ambassador and is seen giving a tour to the visitors.
Glaarni is a beautiful Bernese Mountain Dog and familiar to all guests at the Belgian residence. Visitors will never escape an affectionate greeting. The Ambassador also has two adopted shelter cats, Elvie and Graffith.
It added that they acknowledge that furry friends hugely contribute to human lives in many ways, not only as pets bringing comfort and joy but also as guides, therapists and rescue dogs.
“Today, we also honour the people who care for them, the volunteers at rescue centres and pet adoption programs committed to improving the lives of abandoned animals,” outlined the Embassy and wished all dog lovers and their canine companions a wonderful weekend.
